Quilt Top in Just Over a Day!

Amelia\'s butterflies top

This is the closest I’ve ever gotten to a quilt in a day! As you can see, it’s a baby quilt and the pattern is very simple, but I’m still impressed that I did almost all of the cutting and all of the piecing except the outer border yesterday. I did the outer border today, and I’m very happy with how it looks. This will be for friends of ours, who had a baby girl about a month ago. Once this is done, I will move on to quilts for a baby girl due in early January and a baby boy due at the end of January.

Wow, Nancy! This is so cute! The pattern really shows off the focus fabric. And in just a day! The guys must have been busy with football. Do I remember correctly that the backing will be aqua?

  2. Nancy says:

Thanks, like I said it was fun and very easy to do, and I’m pleased with the result. The guys were supposed to be at the Indy car show all day, so I was anticipating a whole day to quilt, but Nicholas being sick changed those plans, yet somehow I was still able to sew quite a lot. Yes, the backing is aqua. I have it layered and basted now and have started the quilting. But things have slowed down again due to Nicholas’ strep diagnosis yesterday and my strep diagnosis today. Sigh!

Yet another in your long line of beautiful/cute/adorable baby quilts, Nancy! I especially like the thin black inner border. It really sets off the body of the quilt from the border. Will you bind it in black also?
Ooooh, I’m so sorry to hear that you have joined the Strep Bunch too. )-: Take those antibiotics and try to get some rest. I have it on good authority that Quilting is Therapeutic.

Yes, the binding will be black too. I ‘m happy about how that black border worked. It’s similar to Andrew’s quilt, but Andrew’s quilt has more black in it and isn’t a baby quilt. With this one, I was just a little worried about how it would turn out, but now I’m pleased.

On the strep front, I was feeling truly lousy yesterday and was very glad it was New Year’s Day and Eric didn’t have to work. Thankfully, I was a little better during the night and was able to sleep, and feel quite a bit better today. Thank you, antibiotics!

I agree that quilting is therapeutic. But sometimes it just takes antibiotics. Did you have to go to a prime care type facility? I hope everyone is doing lots better by now.
