Extremely Crackpotty Project

Fellow Crackpots, I have stumbled upon what may be the most Crackpotty Project I have ever seen!  I was browsing through the craft books at Hobby Lobby and came upon the book Modge Podge Rocks! Decoupage Your World by Amy Anderson.  There are an amazing number of things you can do with Modge Podge, but by far the best among them is that you can decorate your bike helmet with fabric scraps:

How amazingly crackpotty is that?  I have a bike helmet, lots of fabric scraps, and some Modge Podge, so I may just have to try this!  Or maybe this would be a Crackpot activity for next year’s All Together Week…

It’s starting to get chilly here, so I finished my card trick lap quilt just in time for it to be put to good use.

Yay! Now I can finally post this. I finished this friendly bell pepper several weeks ago but couldn’t post it because it was a gift for the ESL teacher I work with, whose birthday was yesterday. She’s a big salad eater, so I though a bell pepper was appropriate.

Wow! Yesterday at Quilting Ladies I finally did the last hand quilting stitches for this wall hanging. I have been working on it for such a long time – the tulips were my very first attempts at hand appliqué! I hand quilted lots of little tulips in the four corners, which took forever, but once I had started, I couldn’t really quit. But the good news is it is finished and now I can work on the binding!

Unfinished Paper Piecing Project

I started this paper piecing project quite a while ago. Then I stopped because it was A LOT of paper piecing, and I got tired of it. Then, after I finished the heart bibs, I was looking at my list of other things I’d like to make. One is a spring table cover for the table by our front door. I was looking through fabric and patterns for inspiration and remembered this paper piecing project. So, I dug it out of the box of unfinished projects in the basement and took a look at it. I don’t really want to do more paper piecing, but I might put together what I’ve got with some background fabric and see what I’ve got…

Thanks to Isaac, we had a rainy afternoon, so I spent some time finishing up the yellow and orange heart bibs for the twins. Each one has a yellow heart on one side and an orange one on the other. I used packaged bias binding because, believe it or not, in my entire stash of blue fabric, I didn’t have a big enough piece of solid blue to make the binding. Everything else came from my stash. I’m very happy with how they turned out, especially since this was a crackpotty, make-it-up-as-you-go project. I think if I use this pattern again for bibs, I will add a strip of background to the bottom, though.
